Ikorodu Holds Teachers’ Walk for Fitness

About 200 teachers from different chapters of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lagos State Wing converged in Ikorodu for the monthly fitness walk exercise designed to strengthening the health of the teachers.
The walk which commenced at 7:00 am on Thursday, November 19, 2015, saw the teachers led by the Ikorodu Chapter Chairman, Comrade Lateef Babatunde Oduguwa walking from Local Government Primary School, Ipakodo through Otunba T.O.S. Benson Avenue, Ojogbe, Ayangbure Road to Ikorodu Garrage Roundabout and eventually terminated at the Teachers’ House at Oga/Methodist Primary School, Ikorodu.
In an interview with our reporter, Comrade Oduguwa said, “Ikorodu is hosting the fitness exercise which started about seven months ago and designed to strengthen teacher’s health. It is our own way of getting our colleagues fit mentally, physically, and improves their living conditions through exercises.”
Oduguwa who promised to sustain the programme on weekend basis also revealed his administration’s plan to organize aerobic sessions for the teachers in Ikorodu.
Also speaking was the State Wing 1st Vice Chairman, Comrade Olaifa Jimoh who stated that the exercise is the Union’s way of getting the teachers fit and healthy.
