Fortune has smiled on Pa Oluwole Falodun, the visually impaired Waka-About columnist who lost his sight to a surgeon’s error 20 years ago, with Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode granting some of his requests.
In telephone conservation with The Nation, Pa Falodun confirmed that a three-bedroom apartment has been provided for him in a choice area in Lagos. His last son in the university was also given a N500, 000 educational scholarships.
“I appreciate governor Ambode for attending to me immediately the story was published in the newspapers. The Secretary to the State Sovernment, Mr Tunji Bello got in touch with me within 24 hours. The governor at the same time mandated the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Mr Olatunji Odunlami to scout for a befitting accommodation for me.”
Pa Fawole added that he is still praying for monetary reward and compensation for his two children who have graduated from the university as well as financial support for him on a regular basis as was promised by former governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when they both held a meeting some years ago.
In a related development, Pa Falodun disclaimed social media campaigns soliciting financial support on his behalf.
“Some people have gone on social media soliciting support for me which I don’t know anything about. Anybody doing that is just trying to concretize his stomach infrastructure to borrow the words of Ayodele Fayose. I don’t know anything about it”.
