Aga-Elepe CDA Sets To Elect New Exco, Embarks on Street Lightening
-Election Schedule for March 26
After two terms in office of the Executive Council of the Aga-Elepe Community Development Association (CDA), the residents of the community are set to elect new officers to steer the ship of one of the leading CDA in Ikorodu.
The present executive council which came in about four years ago are constitutional barred and to achieve a smooth passing of baton, the outgoing executive council has put in place an electoral committee led by Mr Ayo Olusesi to organize a free and fair election.
At the CDA general meeting held on Saturday, January 27, 2016, the electoral committee’s chairman stated that the committee is working towards making credible candidates obtain forms and stand for elections.
“The present executive committee has set a very high standard which we must not allowed to derail and to sustain that it is our collective efforts to ensure that credible candidates apply for available positions and as a committee we are doing everything to ensure this but we still need the support of the entire community to achieve that” the electoral committee chairman stated.
The electoral body chairman who announced that the committee would adopt a secret ballot system also added that, “qualifications and requirements for anybody to be elected are experience, ability to perform, regularity at meetings and CDA functions and payments of dues to the CDA. Of course, we are also not going to tolerate an ex-convict or anybody with criminal record.”
The outgoing CDA Chairman, Comrade Abd. Hakeem Oyeniyi in his remarks at the meeting enjoined members of the community to give more commitment and dedication to the development of the community and support the incoming officers in order to move the community forward and continue the good work that has been making Elepe-Aga a reference point in Ikorodu and at the state level”
Meanwhile, the performing outgoing executive council have also initiated lightening project of the community and according to the chairman, “the initiative is to rehabilitate the street lights on the Elepe-Aga road and compliment the lightening initiative of the government of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
In a chat with THE IMPACT after the meeting, the chairman assured that the lightening project will be completed before handing-over in April.
According to the electoral committee, the positions to be contested for are the chairman, vice chairman, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer, financial secretary, auditor, publicity secretary, social secretary, welfare and ex-officios.
Meanwhile, the election has been schedule for Saturday, March 26, 2016.
