United Action For Change Plans Inauguration, Elects Officers

The inauguration of the Ikorodu chapter of the United Action Congress (UAC), a political pressure group is billed to hold on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Bar Centre of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ikorodu chapter, along T.O.S Benson Avenue, Ikorodu

The initiator of the group and former Commissioner for Environment, Dr Muiz Banire, SAN, is billed to attend the event to formally inaugurate the chapter and newly elected executives committee.

Barrister Nurudeen Ogbara, the Convener, UAC Ikorodu, while speaking during the Saturday, April 23 meeting said, “As a pressure group, we shall discuss issues without sentiments. Our modus operandi is devoid of any politics but solely a participatory approach to issues of governance. Though, we are going to put in place an executive committee that will steer the ship of the body in the next one year but we must have in our minds that this is a body with a difference and that anybody can be called upon to preside at meetings”

While warning that it will not be business as usual, the Convener stated that high level of transparency, probity and sincerity is demanded of anybody giving responsibility.

‘During the inauguration, members and the general public shall be given opportunity to engage the National Convener of the group, Dr Banire, who shall be here in person with other national and state officers” Barrsiter Ogbara added.

Officers elected at the meeting are Barrsiter Nurudeen Ogbara as the Chairman, Comrade Japheth Odesanya as Secretary, Kunle Adelabu as Assistant Secretary, Mr Borokini Hameed as Treasurer and Mr Emmanuel Dayo Orenuga as Public Relations Officer.

The members of the Ikorodu chapter after the meeting which took place at The Factor Office at Itamaga, proceeded to the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, to join hundreds of other members across the state in a Town Hall meeting with Professor Yemi Osibajo, SAN, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
