Prince Ganny Awobajo, Pioneer Community Paper Editor, Publisher Celebrates 70th Birthday

The pioneer Community Newspaper editor and publisher in Ikorodu and the Agbaakin of Odo-Nla, Prince Ganny Awobajo on Sunday, May 29, 2016 had a low-key 70th birthday celebration at his residence in Odo-Nla, Ikorodu.

The celebration which spanned few hours was heralded with short Christian Thanksgiving service purposefully to appreciate God for preserving his life in the last 70years.

Among guests at the occasion were foremost community leader in Ikorodu, Otunba David Ekiyoyo, former IKODASS Vice President, Alhaji Wahab, former Chairman, NUT, Ikorodu , Comrade Olorunnimbe, officers and members of Ikorodu Development association (IKODASS), family members and friends.

Prince Awobajo’s primary constituency, the media, was also adequately represented by the Scribe, League of Journalists (LJI) and Publisher, The Impact Newspaper, Kunle Adelabu, Treasurer LJI and Editor, of Oriwu Sun Newspaper, Hadj Kazeem Ganiu-Sanni.

In a statement released by the League of Journalists, Ikorodu (LJI) and signed by its President, Otunba Dare Odufowokan and the Scribe, Kunle Adelabu, the league commended the celebrant who is the Publisher of the 34years old Ikorodu News, for clearing the path for journalism profession in Ikorodu and nurturing young journalists, while also wishing him more prosperous years in the service of journalism profession and Ikorodu community.

Prince Awobajo became the pioneer Community Newspaper editor in Ikorodu with the Ikorodu  Providence Newspaper in 1980 which was the first community paper in Ikorodu. The paper changed to Ikorodu News in August 1983 when Prince Ganny Awobajo became its Publisher/Editor-in-Chief.
