All Set for Installation of Oba Semiu Kasali As Adeboruwa of Igbogbo
The situation in the ancient town of Igbogbo, a community in Ikorodu division of Lagos State is calm as residents are set for the installation of new monarch.
News started filtering in last week that the presentation of staff of office to the Oba-elect, Barrister Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, will take place on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the Adeboruwa palace, Igbogbo and by the weekend, letters and invitation cards started going out which confirmed the rumour.
THE IMPACT gathered that the governor may not be in attendance to make the presentation in person due to some pressing state matters among which is the swearing-in of the chairman and members of the newly constituted Hajj board schedule for the same day.
A reliable source also told THE IMPACT that the Commissioner for Local Government & Community Affairs, Hon. Musiliu Folami will be on ground to do the presentation on behalf of the Governor and will be assisted by the Special Adviser, Communities & Communications, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan.
THE IMPACT Newspaper also confirmed from a member of the Council of kingmakers that a letter from the Lagos State Government confirming the selection of Oba-elect, Prince Semiu Kasali was received on Monday, July 18, 2016, through the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and that it has also been communicated that the presentation of staff of office is slated for today. The letter of confirmation was actually received by the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA late on Friday, July 15, 2016.
We also gathered that blue and white colors have been picked as dress code to herald the presentation of staff of office to the new Oba who will be succeeding the late Oba Johnson Fatola who joined his ancestors last year.
Mr Shakiru Seidu, a prominent youth in Igbogbo while speaking with THE IMPACT stated, “It is a new dawn in Igbogbo land because the gods of our land have listened to the generality of the people through the kingmakers. We are also glad that our leaders can feel the pulse of the residents that there is need to break away from the past. We have a new king who is well loved by all. “
Another resident who do not want his name in print stated, “I really do not know him but I learnt that he (the Oba-elect) has been working behind the scene for development and progress of Igbogbo but due to his quiet nature, not many are aware of this. His backgrounds as a lawyer and senior civil servant will no doubt help in enhance the growth of the town.”
