Oba Semiu Kasali Enters Ipebi
In fulfilment of the traditional rites for any Oba in Yorubaland, the newly installed HRM Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo entered ‘Ipebi’ (place of seclusion) today to commence his three months isolation journey.
The journey into ‘Ipebi’ started early morning on Tuesday when Oba Kasali arrived Osugbo, the chamber of highest traditional authority in Igbogbo, which combined executive legislative and judicial powers.
He came out of the Osugbo shrine with leaders of the cult to the sound of ‘Gbedu’ drum at 9.2am and proceeded to Adeboruwa palace from where he was led to Orisa-Oja shrine and other traditional areas in Igbogbo. Passing through Itun-Abosan, Awolowolo Way, Meri Road, Itunmokun, Oba Omolaja Ogunlewe Way and the royal compound, Oba Kasali in the company of chieftains of Osugbo and Igbogbo people arrived ‘Ipebi’ around 10am.
