Hon. Agunbiade Prepares Computer Trainees For Market

In his quest to make the over 200 youths currently on his sponsored 3month computer training programme across the three Local Government and Local Council Development Areas(LCDAs) in Ikorodu Constituency I, be adequately prepared for the labour market, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade has engaged them in a workshop to groom them for the challenges of the global market.

At the workshop held recently at Hon. Agunbiade’s Constituency House, along Awolowo Way, Ikorodu, the students were enlightened on various aspects of job they can embark upon after the 3month intensive computer training and qualities that would stand them out in the highly competitive market.

In his opening remarks, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Agunbiade stated that the essence of the workshop was to prepare the trainees for the labour market challenges.

“Our goal is not just to train you in computer knowledge but also to empower you so that you can adequately deplore whatever you might have learnt in the three months intensive training and prepare you for the labour market which is why we brought resource persons to mentor and guide your path on how you can deplore your IT knowledge to conquer the world,” Hon. Agunbiade stated.

Mr Bello Oladimeji Akeem, a teacher of several years standing and a chieftain of the Onward Movement of Nigeria in his keynote address enjoined the students to seize the opportunity and make good use of it because it is a rare one.

Another resource person, Mr Tunde Onifade, a graphic designer and cinematographer, commended Hon. Agunbiade for  creating opportunity for the youths and enjoined the trainees to take the best of the opportunity provided.

“Creating a platform for young people to excel is always a good idea and Hon. Agunbiade has started this good initiative which is very encouraging. The decisions to take the opportunity and do something good with it or not are now in your hands. With this training, you could be Cinematographer, desktop publisher, graphic designer and a whole lot depending on your decisions” stated Onifade.

In her class on etiquette, Miss Rashidat Aitsegame taught the students on qualities that would stand them out and make them preferable to others in the labour market. “It is important for you to be competitively advantage in the highly competitive market and to do this, you need to imbibe some lessons in etiquette,” she stated.

While appreciating the sponsor for engaging the youth in Ikorodu, the graduate of Lagos Business School also challenged the students to rediscover themselves with the opportunity that has been given and make a good future for themselves.

Mrs Owolabi Abimbola Kudirat, the immediate past Supervisor, Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Ikorodu Local Government, in her contribution during the workshop stated, “One is not a free human being without ICT and I expect you not only to acquire necessary trainings with this opportunity you have been given but also to go out there to impact and unleash on the world your potentials that were developed through this training.”

The Onward Director-General, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo explained the concept of Hon. Agunbiade/Onward Movement of Nigeria of training and empowering the youths.

“We want to pass the baton to the younger generation and want the youth to seize the countless opportunities in our programmes. Computer training is just one of the numerous avenues we have been training and empowering the youths because our mission is to raise the consciousness of individuals for a fulfilling future” Hon. Olosugbo stated.

He also informed that the second and final workshop to prepare the trainees would come up towards the completion of the 3month intensive computer training.
