Ikorodu Students Inaugurate National Councils

-Advised to commission data base for all Ikorodu students

During the inauguration of the Executive and Parliamentary6 Councils of the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS) at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat hall

The Executive and Parliamentary Councils of the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS) have been inaugurated to oversee the affairs of the students across the six Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of Ikorodu Division in various higher institutions across the federation.

At the inauguration on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat hall, Ikorodu, a 12-member National Executive Council (NEC) and 11-member National Parliamentary Council (NPC) of NAIDS were inaugurated.

The elections into various executives and parliamentary offices were conducted in June 2016 at the Igbogbo Students Union hall, Igbogbo.

Members of the NAIDS NEC that was inaugurated were Comrade Sobona Wasiu Adekunle (President), Com. Matti Mariam (Vice President I), Com. Akinyemi Sulaimon (Vice President II), Com. Okedeyi Kehinde (General Secretary), Com. Odufuwa Idris Oluwaseun ( Asst. General secretary), Com. Oshinnuga Samuel Olusegun (PRO), Com. Odeyemi Qudus Babajide (Treasurer), Com. Ababa Abdulrasheed (Social Director), Com. Oshinkoya Halimat (Welfare Director), Com. Idomo Hammed Abayo (Sports Director) and Com. Salisu Kareemat (Legal Director).

The members of the NAIDS PAC were Hon. Aroyewun Adeleke Sulaimon (Speaker), Hon. Oteju Ayomide (Deputy Speaker), Hon. Aribido Olamide Lamzey (Clerk) , Hon. Owoyele Luqman Oladapo (Chief whip) and seven floor members, Hon. Sulaimon Risikat Omolara, Hon. Adebola Aminat Omotoyosi, Hon. Olafare Comfort Oladunni, Hon. Omobowale Oyeyemi John, Hon. Olude Funmilayo Hannah, Hon. Bakare Sodi Adebowale and Hon. Banjo Jelili.

In his welcome address, Comrade Tosin Mabunmi, the Chairman, Transition Committee, National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS), stated that NAIDS was conceived with the aims and objectives of uniting the people of Ikorodu Division, make the students across the division and who are in different higher institutions across the country have common goal and contribute towards making Ikorodu Division an envy of other parts of the country by helping to consolidate on its social, political and economic developments.

The former Ikorodu Local Government Leader, Hon. Jimoh Azeez Olosugbo, who was the Chairman of the occasion and one of the founding members of NAIDS, emphasized that there is need for Ikorodu Division students to be under one umbrella through which they can be able to project the divisions’ interest, members’ goal and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ikorodu.

While enjoining them to have a data base for all Ikorodu students across various higher institutions in Nigeria he tasked the national officers to be fair, just and transparent in their dealings.

In his keynote address, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, the Chief Executive Officer, FunCity/Something Else Club & Bar, Ikorodu and Director-General, iCare Foundation, also emphasized the importance of creating a data base for the students.

Mayor Sanwoola also assured the students’ body of his supports and pledge to meet with various stakeholders in Ikorodu to solicit support for the body like bursary awards and other patronages.

Other prominent individuals in attendance at the event were Comrade Sultan Ibrahim, President, NULASS. and Comrade Adedeji Fatuga, the Convener, The Ikorodu Ambassadors Group and Comrade Ajalogun.

Certificates were also presented to the NEC and PAC members and guests at the event.
