Encomiums As Unleash Goes Statewide, Alozie, Dance 2 Family, Afolashade, Mercy Emerge Commemorative Winners

-Honours partners for five unbroken years of support

It was praises and commendations galore for Fanafillit Integrated Concept, the producers of the annual grassroots talents exposition, Unleash Your Talent (UYT,) for the positive impacts which the show has had on the youths and development of arts in Ikorodu.

At the Grand Finale of the Season V, which took place at The Kingscourt Event centre, Akasolori, Ikorodu, on Sunday, August 21, 2016, the organizers announced that starting from 2016, the talent hunt show will be spread to other parts of the state because of popular demands.

The 2016 edition which also doubled as the commemorative edition of the yearly event which has been held successfully for five unbroken years despite challenges, also featured the presentation of Appreciation awards to brands and individuals who hves been supporting UYT event since inception.

Those honoured are the Publisher/Reporter-in-Chief, THE IMPACT Newspaper, Kunle Adelabu, Publisher of Yes International Magazine Arthur Arinze, former Leader, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, Kemi Arewa, Miss Blessing Eribona, Airtel Nigeria, Encomium magazine and G & M Dry Cleaners.

In the keenly contested performances in four different categories, Master Matthew Alozie, Dance 2 Family, Afolashade Atoyebi and Mercy O Ogboli emerged winners in comedy, dance, modelling and music categories respectively.

The announcement of the winners in different categories by the event anchor, Mrs Doyin Kukoyi, the presenter of popular Yoruba programme on African Magic, ‘Gbajumo Osere’, drew the curtail on the event which commenced over three months ago with the method of voting which included online voting, audience rating, judge’s rating and auditioning performances.

The fates of about thirty finalists were decided by the panel of judges which included Mr Ojo Martins, Kemi Arewa, Richy Manny and Olabode Matthew.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Commissioner for Youths & Social development, Lagos State stated that the government of Lagos State, is committed to developing and empowering the youths.

The Commissioner who was ably represented by Mr Abdul Saka, while commending the organizers for the initiative also pledged to host the finalists and Unleash Your Talents organizers in her office in September to show the support of the State Government for the talents hunt show.

In a moment of reflection by Mayor Deen Sanwoola, the Chief Executive Officer, FunCity/Something Else, Ikorodu, he eulogized the performances exhibited by the talented youths at the grand finale of the contest and added that Ikorodu can compete favorably with any part of the world in terms of human and material resources.

Mr Olabode Oserinde, the Chief Executive Officer, Fanafillit integrated Concept and initiator of the Unleash Your Talent (UYT), in his remarks at the event stated that the dream of his company is to assist the community in taking the youths off the street and make them productive.

“Our aim as a body is to propagate Ikorodu arts by exposing its abundance of creativeness in its youths who are out there on the streets. We plan to assist the society not only in taking the youths off the streets, but also to engage them and make them unleash their potentials productively and positively on the society.

While appreciating his crew, the initiator also stated that the talent hunt show will be going statewide due to demands.

“It has been a very challenging journey and I want to appreciate everybody that has been supported us and partnering with us. I could not have achieved this without their supports. I equally want to thank my crew for their commitment and dedication. Starting from 2016, other parts of the state will be witnessing the event as arrangement, have been concluded to stage the show across the five divisions of Lagos State.

“I want to single out Mayor Deen Sanwoola for appreciation. He has been of tremendous support since last year’s edition. I really want to appreciate him for all he has done which I cannot start recounting. Likewise, Hon. Bababjimi Benson who has also been of great assistance to us.”

Established artistes and dancers like TQ Bello and award-winning Hilary Jackson also added colours to the show, while DJ Tonyz was on the turn-table to dish out lovely songs that held the awesome audience spell-bound.

Other guests at the event were Alhaja Olufunmi Oshinowo-Basorun, Mr Tayo Odesanya (Aide of the State of Osun Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola), Prince Peju Abraham Akinyemi (Chief Executive Officer, Ikorodu Radioonline), Arewa of the MTN Project Fame, DJ Colorado (Vice President Deejays Association of Nigeria), DJ Roland among others.
