Ikorodu Grammar School Old Students Association Give Back To Alma Mata

The Old Students Association of Ikorodu Grammar school, Class of 1992, has donated exercise books and many textbooks for the use of the students and the school.
At the short event which took place on the school assembly ground on Tuesday, October 4,2016, about 3000 branded exercise book were donated to the junior class of the school, and numerous textbooks which cover science, commercial and arts classes were donated to the school library for the use of the senior classes.
Mr Lamidi Hakeem, the President, Ikorodu Grammar School Old Students Association, 1992 Set, while presenting the books stated that they were given back to the alma mata for impacting positively on them and relived the free education many of them enjoyed while in school.
The National President of Ikorodu Grammar School Old Students Association, Mr Ishaq Abiodun Bisiriyu, who accepted the donated books on behalf of the national body and donated them to the School Principals and the Senior Prefects, thanked the 1992 set for the gesture which he stated would go a long way in improving the school academic standard.
Also speaking, Mrs Okuselu Jumoke, the Principal of Ikorodu Grammar School Senior School, thanked the 1992 set and the national body for their positive input in the school and enjoined the students to take a lesson from the gesture of the old students.
“It’s really a great thing to give back to your alma mata. This gesture would go a very long way in helping the students to improve on their academic performances and I want to believe that this would further impact on the students to aspire for greatness and also in no distance future cultivate the habit of giving back to the school and the society at large” Mrs Okuselu stated.
In his own contribution, Otunba Murisiku Yekinni, a former President of the set, appealed to the students to make good use of their time and be studious. He also unveiled the plan by the set to institute a scholarship award in the school.
Speaking in an interview with the National President, Mr Ishaq, he stated that, “This is a very good example by the 1992 set and it is very commendable. The school and the society at large should expect more from the national body and various sets of the school. The National body is planning the inaugural prize giving and award day for the students and staff of the school which is coming soon.”
Others in the old students entourage that visited the school were Mr Ogbe Kazeem, Mr Musbau Alejo, Mrs Munirat Awali and Mrs SholaOgunlawani-Olaonipekun.
