Ambode Connects With Traders In Ikorodu
-Sets to embark on advocacy against street trading across Lagos markets

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has resolved to get more connected with the grassroots this time through the traders across the markets in Lagos State.
The Ambode-Traders Connect which kick started at Ayangbure market (Sabo), Ikorodu, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, with the purpose of communicating the activities of the state government and advocate against street trading in the state, is expected to move to the other four divisions in Lagos State.
According to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was represented by Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, the Special Adviser on Communities & Communications to the Governor, ”The Ambode-Trade Connect is organized to serve and drive home the seriousness of the state government advocacy against street trading

“The initiative is also designed to strengthen the relationship between the government and the traders in Lagos State markets. We aim to use the platform to educate the traders on the activities of the government and get their views”
During the event, different gift items like fez-caps, waist pouches, umbrellas, among others were also won by the traders in a raffle draw tagged, “Ambode Dash Me”. The Iya Oloja-General of Ikorodu, Alhaja Chief Risikat Allison who won a calculator emerged as the first trader to win a gift in “Ambode Dash Me” raffle draw

Among state functionaries and other dignitaries at the event were Hon Jafar Januth, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government & Communities, AQlhaji Tajudeen Quadri, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mrs Oluwakemi Andu, Director of Legal in the Ministry of Local Government & Communities, Mrs Toyin Idris, Director in the Ministry, Mrs Koleosho Oluwaseyi, Public Relation Officer of the Ministry and the Comrade Christopher Okpala, NATIONAL Coordinator of Traders Rights Protection Initiative among others.
