The first set of elders, widows, needy and other beneficiaries of the iCare food bank tagged, ‘Apo Anu’ (Sack of Mercy) have completed their ration and the foundation which is being led by Hon. Babajimi Benson, the member, Federal House of Representatives, is set to provide for another set.
The distribution of food items started in October 2016 with about 300 beneficiaries entitled to three ration of the food bag. The distribution of the third ration which began about a week ago, ended on December 22, 2016, at Hon. Babajimi Benson Constituency Office in Ikorodu.
The final ration was designed for the beneficiaries to celebrate the Yuletide amidst plenty to eat.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Olajumoke Benson appreciated the beneficiaries for their understanding and cooperation, while also enjoining them to keep their cards for future benefits.
“We thank you for your support and understanding since the beginning of ‘Apo Anu’. It is a programme that is dear to the heart of Hon. Benson and other members of iCare. While we are rounding up the distribution of the food items to you (beneficiaries present), we shall be attending to another set starting from January 2017.
“The intention is to tackle hunger by providing food items for elders, widows and others in the society and prevent them from being starved. And despite the economic challenges, we shall continue to give support to the needy.
“Your love and prayers have been wonderful and I ask that you continue supporting Hon. Benson and iCare so that this programme can continue. I enjoin you to keep your cards, because they will not only serve as evidence that you benefited from the gesture but also for future benefits.
Earlier in the month when the last batch started receiving the food items, Hon. Benson had stated, “We have chosen to give the beneficiaries the last ration of the food pack on December 22 so that they would be able to celebrate Christmas with joy”
Reacting after collecting the sack containing different food items, Pastor Afolabi Adisa said, “His actions within short time he has been representing us have shown that he is a man that can be trusted with power. He is a potential governorship candidate and I pray he gets to the peak of his political carrier so that he can do more for the people. I pray that the grace of the Lord shall abide with him,his wife and children”
Mrs Toyin Razaq said, “My prayer to him is that he shall never be misled by people and that no untoward things shall befall him. He has been bringing joy to many homes and my prayer is that God will continue to grant him success in all his endeavours. He will live longer to enjoy the fruits of his labour and the good deeds he has been doing to the people”
Mrs Kadijat Ogunlana said, “Hon. Benson by distributing food items to many has help many homes from going hungry and I pray that he will never go hungry. He shall get to the greater height in Allah’s name”
Mrs Remilekun Shade in her own reaction said, “Whatever he sets his mind on or lays his hands upon shall proper. His family shall enjoy peace and joy because he has been bringing happiness to various homes and I wish him and his family merry Christmas and happy new year in advance”.
