Bolowotan Golden Cup: Ayomipo Academy Shows Class As Destiny Emerges Champion
-Winner, Other runners -up get N200,000, N100,000, N50,000, N20,000 prize money at the final respectively
-10th edition to be repackaged.

It was not an easy win for the National Amateur league team, Destiny FC, as the Ikorodu-based football academy which entered the competition as an under-dog proved that they are not push-overs in the final match of the Bolowotan Golden Cup which was played on Sunday, March 17,2017.
At the final match which was held at the Police Barracks Playing Ground in Ikorodu, Destiny FC managed to score a lone which was the decider in the eighth minutes of the second half of the epic final.
While Destiny players exhibited experiences and class in their game, the youthful Ayomiposi players showed tenacity and purposeful actions on the field of play by holding the amateur league team for long time before they had their break in the 53rd minutes of the final.
Though, the Champions dominated the game with effective control of the midfield and linkages among the departments, Ayomiposi’s strength was in the disciplined defence and flanks from which they operated for the better parts of the game.
In the third – Place match played earlier, the three -time champion of the most consistent football championship in Ikorodu division, A.A.C.C, defeated Royal Sporting FC from Bariga by 2 goals to nil to lift the bronze.
The goals for A.A.C.C came in the 69th and 76th minutes of the game as both sides displayed mastery of the round leather game to the admiration of the club owners, scouts, guests and spectators that graced the finals.
Meanwhile, the sole sponsor of the tournament has stated that his passion for youths development and empowerment has been the main reason for the continued sponsored of the tournament.
“My major motivating factor is to see the youths of Ikorodu developing their soccer talents. This tournament is thus design to provide them platforms to exhibit their raw talents for scouts in the professional leagues both home and abroad to detect them.

He also hinted that the 10th edition of the Bolowotan Golden Cup which would commenced later this year would take a new dimension.
Prize monies of N200,000.00, N100,000.00, N50,000.00 and N25,000.00 were presented to the tournament champions (Destiny FC), first Runner-up (Ayomiposi Academy), 3rd place winner (A.A.C.C) and 4th place team (Royal Sporting FC) respectively after the final match .
Speaking with Alhaji Kamal Oduborisha, A.A.C.C Manager, he commended the sponsor for not only consistently organizing the competition since the first edition but also for timely prize money redemption to teams unlike other tournaments.
“The tournament has been a successful one since inception and it keeps improving. I want to personally thank the sponsor for the consistent nature of the championship in which my team has emerged champions three times in the previous editions. He has also been redeeming price monies as at when due unlike some other tournaments”
“I expect the organizer to invite more scouts in the premier league in subsequent editions so that players in the competition could be detected. There is also need for corporate and government intervention to help improve and sustain the championship.
