LASPOTECH Strike Update: Unions Suspend Strike After Governing Council’s Intervention
Following the intervention of the 11th Governing Council of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, the three academic and non-academic unions, late Thursday, May 11, 2017, suspended their strike started about three weeks ago.
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Lagos State Polytechnic chapter, had declared an indefinite strike action commencing from Friday, April 21, 2017, after an emergency congress due to irreconcilable trade dispute with the management. Its Chairman, Comrade Akinrinlola Ibitoye, stated that the strike action became necessary “due to the insensitive act of the management to honor the agreement reached with the union on the payment of the CONTISS 15 migration arrears.
According to a reliable source, “ASUP will hold a congress on Monday. The communique of the Unions with the 11th Governing Council will be read on the floor of the Congress on Monday”
