Comrade Okeowo Campaign Storms Ikorodu
The campaign team of the Ikorodu Local Government Chairmanship aspirant, Comrade Kehinde Olusola Okeowo, on Monday, May 15, 2017, stormed major streets in Ikorodu to officially announce her intention and unveil her programmes to the public.
The colourful parade moved from her campaign headquarters at Itunpate through Alhaji Street, Itunmoja, Oba Adenaike Alagbe Road, Ladega, Ojubode, Ayangbure Road, Oriwu Road, Ita Elewa, Obun-Ale, Ireshe Road, Sheriff, Ota-Ona, Itunpate Road and back to the campaign headquarters where she addressed the gathering.
Unveiling her programmes for Ikorodu, Comrade Okeowo stated that security, Internally Generated Revenue, Empowerment Programmes, Support for the aged and Provision of amenities among many others would be her major focus when elected into the Chairmanship position of the council.
“We have shown that we are serious about this campaign. With your support and commitment, we shall get the party’s ticket. I have been serving Ikorodu with commitment and dedication. And as a party faithful, my contributions are there for all to see.”
“Our aim is to change the face of Ikorodu politics by ensuring good governance and my administration would be an all-inclusive one. We have developed programmes that we are going to use in redirecting the Ikorodu Local Government. We have to make the council more productive.”
“As an insider, I know what to do to achieve this when I’m giving the opportunity to serve you in the capacity of a chairman.”
“One of our major agenda is to ensure improved security in Ikorodu and its environs. We have been involved in bringing about the present relative peace, Our aim is to evolve ways to make lives and properties safer in our community. We are ready to do that in a more proactive and practical ways” ,she stated while explaining her security programme.
“With my almost forty years experience as a public servant before retiring recently; a unionist and community developer, I have capacity to increase the revenue base of the council. It is a place that is very well known to me. We have the wherewithal to challenge and encourage the council staff to be a positive factor in improving the council’s internally generated revenue.”
“We have also designed empowerment programmes for women and youths in Ikorodu. Likewise, we plan to give regular support to the elders and less privileges in our community. They have served the community and giving them supports is the least we can do to give them sense of belonging” ,she stated.
Other campaign programmes listed were inclusive & open administration, strengthening the capacity of local government staff, adequate recognition of party and stakeholders and equitable amenity provision among others.
