Alhaji (Dr) Abdulateef Abdulhakeem, the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Chief Imam, Lagos State House of Assembly Mosque, has appealed to the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept the candidates picked as the party’s flag bearers for the coming council elections.
He made the appeal at the 7th Hon. Sanai Agunbiade Ramadan Lecture held in Ikorodu on Monday, June 19, 2017, themed “Steadfastness In The Face of Persecution”. This year’s edition was held in honour of Hon. Agunbiade’s late father,Alhaji Yunus Agunbiade who died in 2016.
The cleric also commended Hon. Agunbiade, who is the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, for remaining consistent in feeding the Muslim faithful with words of Allah and giving his people and the state quality representation.
“I want to appeal to our party people especially the aggrieved aspirants that feel that they deserve the party’s nomination to accept the decision as Allah’s will. At times, Allah will not make our desire as a people come to pass because it would bring negative consequences to us”, he stated.
“If it is the will of Allah for you to be there, nobody can prevent you. It is not about who you know, rather, it is what Allah has destined for you.”
While commending Hon. Agunbiade, the erudite Islamic scholar stated that only a steadfast person could continue organizing a beneficial programme for the people.
“I want to commend Hon. Agunbiade who has been feeding Muslim faithful in the last years with the words of Allah and providing for their Ramadan break. It is not an easy thing to bring these leaders and the people out”, he stated.
The lecturer enjoined participants to always put their trust in Allah, give assistance without expecting thanks from people, be prayerful and stay positive if they are to remain steadfast and make heaven.
